the [Special Act on the support of R&D Zones]. It aim to become a global innovation cluster where the virtuous circle of R&D
- technology commercialization - reinvestment takes place.

Overview
- Korea is number 1 in shipbuilding and has a reputation for very skilled workers. Based on the shipbuilding technologies
and R&D capacities, Korea is now shifting into an offshore plant industry. The government has also introduced various
support policies to offshore plant industries using all the technologies accumulated in universities, government-funded
research institutes and companies to lead the world in the offshore plant industry market.
Especially, the government designated INNOPOLIS Busan in November 12nd, 2012 in order to promote Busan as a R&D
hub for the offshore plant industry and a business center.
INNOPOLIS Busan is situated in Busan's Gangseo-gu, Geumjong-gu, Yeonje-gu and etc. It has 6 universities, 4 governmentfunded
research institutes and about 1000SMEs. In addition to that, about 10 new offshore plant related research centers
are waiting to be established until 2018.
